A Year to Celebrate!
It is always exciting to anticipate another ski season, but 2011-2012 season gives us an additional reason to look forward to winter. Breckenridge Ski Resort will celebrate its 50th birthday on December 16, and will spend the entire season commemorating this milestone.
For 50 years, Breck has offered residents as well as guests a signature experience: high quality skiing and snowboarding in a laid-back, welcoming environment. For half of those years, our company has offered guests the opportunity to make the Breck experience theirs for a lifetime and beyond. The 50th birthday of the ski resort is a great opportunity for each of us to celebrate being part of such a great story.
Below are just a few of the milestones that have marked the history of Breckenridge Ski Resort.*
• Breck has hosted approximately 39 million skiers and snowboarders since 1961. The first season featured around 17,000 total skier visits, compared with 1.63 million in the 2010-11 season.
• Breck has received approximately 17,500 inches of snow since the resort opened.
• Breck has welcomed visitors from all 50 states and more than 60 countries, making it a truly global destination.
• Breck became the first ski resort in North America to install a high speed quad chairlift in 1981.
• Breck became the first ski resort to allow snowboarding in Colorado in 1984.
• Breck installed the Quicksilver Super 6, the first and only double loading chairlift in the USA, in 2000.
• Breck built the highest high-speed quad chairlift in the world, the Imperial Express Superchair, topping out at an elevation of 12,840 feet, in 2005.
*all info on Breck 50th from www.breckenridge.com
You can become part of Breck history by participating in the Breck "50 Wishes" campaign. Throughout the season, guests may submit any wish they'd like to see fulfilled at the resort. Breck staff will compile 50 of these wishes and make them come true during the year. Look for details as they are developed at www.breckenridge.com.
As the Breckenridge Ski Resort celebrates its 50th birthday, all of us here at BGV will be celebrating the chance you give us to provide the best vacation experience to be had in Colorado. We look forward to seeing you here this season.

Around Breck - Twist
Twist is a welcome addition to the Breckenridge restaurant scene. Open for Happy Hour and dinner starting at 4pm, Twist boasts one of the best patios in town. Nestled just far enough off of Main Street, the property is situated at the perfect level for stellar mountain views and charming lights strung through the trees add a touch of romance to the casual atmosphere. Simple, intimate and bright, the interior of Twist seems cheery and welcoming and the friendly vibe of the staff is the perfect compliment. The menu at Twist is familiar and far reaching but in all the right ways. Classics like corn dogs and macaroni and cheese get a funky modern makeover with lots of focus on keeping ingredients locally sourced. Dinner entrees are incredibly reasonable pricewise given the quality of ingredients and the care in the preparation. Twist truly boasts an innovative take on comfort cuisine.
